How to make Sweet Pachadi
Sweet pachadi is a thick gravy dish usually made with fruits like ripe kerala plantain (nenthrapazham), ripe mango, pineapple or a mix of fruits. It is a must do dish in Onam Sadya.
Here is the recipe for the mixed fruit pachadi.
Ingredients
Ripe kerala plantain cut into small pieces – ½ cup
Ripe mango cut into small pieces – ½ cup
Black grapes – ½ cup
Jaggery (powdered)– 1 cup
Coconut (shredded) – ½ cup
Red chillies -1
Crushed pepper – 1tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Salt to taste
For tempering
Oil – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1tsp
Curry leaves- a few
Method of preparation
Cook the fruits with enough water and salt and turmeric powder. Once it is cooked add the jaggery and bring to boil. Cook for 3-4 minutes till the raw smell of jaggery is gone. Make a thick fine paste of coconut and red chillies and add to this and bring to boil. Temper with the ingredients mentioned and add to the pachadi.
Sweet, sour and spicy pachadi is ready to be served.
You can also make pineapple pachadi, apple pachadi the same way as mentioned.
