Chana KababChana Kebab

A wonderful healthy teatime snack made with Kabuli Chana (chickpea).



 Boiled chickpeas (Kabuli Chana) -1 cup

Ginger garlic paste -1tbsp

Coriander powder – 1tsp

Bread – 2 slices

Refined flour (Maida) -1tbsp

Crushed Jeera (cumin seeds) – 1/2tsp

Asafoetida (hing) powder – ¼ tsp

Chaat Masala -1tsp

Finely chopped onions- 1 big onion

Finely chopped green chillies- 2 (as per spice level)

Finely chopped coriander leaves -2 tsp

Refined oil – for shallow frying

Salt – To taste

Method of preparation


Soak chick peas overnight and pressure cook them till they are soft.

Mash the boiled chickpeas.

Heat 1tsp of oil in a pan.

Add the crushed Jeera and once they turn brown add the asafetida powder.

Add ginger garlic paste, green chillies, chopped onions, coriander powder and fry for 2 minutes in low flame.

Add the mashed chick peas and mix well and keep stirring for 5 minutes.

Add salt and chaat masala.

Allow the mixture to cool and grind well along with the bread pieces. Do not add water while grinding.

Transfer the ground mix into a bowl and add Maida and chopped coriander leaves and knead to dough with little oil.

Rest the dough for half an hour.

Take big lemon sized balls of the dough and make kebabs of any shape of your choice.

Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry these kebabs.

Sprinkle some chaat masala on top before serving the kebabs.
