This is a typical Kerala style preparation. During this Easter season, Foodsavory (courtesy Rebecca Khatri) is pleased to present this awesome dish for you.Ingredients

 

Seer fish -8-10 pieces

Lemon juice -1 tbsp

Sambar Onions (shallots) 8-10

Green chillies -4-5 (depending on spice level required)

For marinating

 

Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp

Kashmiri red chilly powder -1tsp

Ginger garlic paste -1 tbsp

Freshly ground black peppercorns – 1tsp

Fenugreek (Methi) powder -1/4 tsp

Lemon juice -1 tbsp

Fish Masala powder -1 tbsp

Salt – To taste

Method of preparation

 

Clean the fish pieces well and soak it in water with lemon juice for 10 minutes.

Drain water and keep aside.

Grind the onions and green chillies to a smooth paste with very little water.

Prepare marinade with this paste along with the marinating ingredients mentioned under the marinating ingredients.

Take the fish pieces one by one and marinate them by coating with the prepared marinade.

Refrigerate the marinated pieces for 2-3 hrs or more.

Heat oil in the pan for shallow frying.

Place the marinated fish pieces in the pan and cook in medium flame.

Turn sides and fry both sides .Make sure the masala doesn’t get burnt.

Place the fried fish in an absorbent paper to drain excess oil.

This fish fry can either be served as a starter or as a side dish for rice.
