Another Yummy recipe by Foodsavory.

Bread Upma is a simple dish which can be had as breakfast or evening snacks. It takes roughly about 15 minutes to make this dish.

Ingredients required:

bread (Shredded) – 5 numbers

Mustard seeds – 1/2 table spoon

Jeera -  1/4 table spoon

Refined oil – about 3 to 4 table spoon

Chopped Onions (Large) – 1

tomatoes (chopped) – 1

Chopped Green Chillies – 1 or 2 (Depending on spice levels)

Chili Powder – 1 tea spoon (Depending on spice levels)

turmeric Powder – 1/2 tea spoon

salt to taste

Chopped Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup

Curry Leaves (optional)

 Method of Preparation

Heat oil in a pan and then put mustard seed and Jeera and allow it to crackle properly.

Add onions and green chillies and fry it till golden brown.

Add chili powder, turmeric powder to it. Also add salt to taste. Now add the chopped tomatoes and mix well.

Now add the shredded bread pieces and mix it well and sprinkle little water.

Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.

Yummy Bread Upma is ready!

Important Note -

- One can add green peas, grated carrots  to include more vegetables in one’s diet. It would be a real treat for the vegans ;-)

- Some prefer adding bit of coriander powder (1/4 to 1/2 table spoon) in this preparation.

- To further enhance the taste one can add boiled and mashed potatoes to this dish during preparation.

- Some prefer using urad dal (in this case about 1/4 tablespoon) soon after the mustards crackle.

- You can use egg/shredded boiled chicken as an option for the non-veg version. Soon after onion turns golden brown and after you add the chili, turmeric and coriander powders, – put one egg portion into the pan and scramble it and then add the shredded bread and follow the normal procedure.
